Charity Wool Bale
The Omeo & District Agricultural & Pastoral Society established the Charity Wool Bale program for the Latrobe Valley Base Helimed 1 Auxiliary in 2015.
Many Wool Growers from across Gippsland who entered their fleeces in the Omeo & District Show, donated them to the Omeo Show Charity Wool Bale. The baled fleeces are later auctioned at the Melbourne Wool Store. To date, including the 2021 bales, $86,489 has been raised.
All funds are donated to Latrobe Valley Base Helimed 1 Auxiliary, a section of Air Ambulance Victoria's fleet of rotary and fixed wing aircraft. The helicopter, which is one of the HEMS fleet, is based in the Latrobe Valley and responds to accidents across Victoria including our local region.
Thank you to the many growers who have donated wool in the past. Donated fleeces are greatly appreciated. Wool growers wishing to enter and/or donate fleeces this year will again help us raise valuable funds for this facility that helps so many families in our Region and beyond.
